Welcome to the Gambling Support Network website. The Gambling Support Network, a service provided by a third-party vendor on behalf of the Department of Health and Wellness, provides a website and internet-based services for individuals who are concerned about their gambling as well as family members and friends who are concerned about someone else’s gambling. The website provides a quiz to help you assess whether you are at risk for gambling problems. You will also find information gambling-related resources and services in your region.

If you are a family member or friend and concerned about someone else’s gambling, the website will provide you with information and resources to help you with your concerns.

1.  Terms of Use

Please read the rules contained in this Terms of Use carefully. Your use of any aspect of this website will constitute your agreement to comply with these terms.

The information and materials provided to you on this website are free of charge. They are intended to facilitate assessment of gambling concerns , provide information and support for concerned family members and friends, and provide resources and services in your region of residence.

We reserve the right to update or change these Terms of Use at any time and for any reason by posting the modified version on this website. Your continued use constitutes your agreement to be bound by any such revisions and you should therefore periodically visit this page of the website and print the latest version of the Terms of Use for your records. The date of the last update to these Terms of Use is stated at the bottom of this document

2. Use of Services

Emergencies

The Gambling Support Network Services are not for emergencies or urgent situations.

If you require immediate assistance, please call your doctor or 911 immediately.

Cost

The information and materials contained on the Gambling Support Network website and by their counsellors are provided free of charge.

Use of e-mail

You are solely responsible for all usage or activity on your e-mail account. We require you to take reasonable efforts to ensure that your ID and password are protected and not used without your knowledge or consent or on your behalf by others.

Use of live chat

You are also able to contact a counsellor at the Gambling Support Network by live chat directly. You can send your questions about treatment for gambling-related issues, treatment services in general and specific services provided by the Gambling Support Network as well as general resources in Nova Scotia.

3. Use of the quiz

The questions contained in the Self-Assessment quiz are based on a standardized assessment tool for gambling-related problems called the Problem Gambling Severity Index © (1). It is a self-assessment tool designed to differentiate between levels of risk and problem gambling.

4. Privacy

The Gambling Support Network respects your privacy and takes privacy very seriously. By accepting the Terms of Use, you consent to the collection and use of personal information as outlined in the Privacy Policy.

5. Governing Law

The Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia without giving effect to any choice of law rules or principles. Any cause of action or claim you may have with respect to the Gambling Support Network must be commenced within one (1) year after it arises, except to the extent such limitation is not enforceable. To the fullest extent permitted by law, each party to this Terms of Use waives its or his or her right to a jury trial with respect to any dispute or other controversy arising from hereunder or your use of or access to the Gambling Support Network services or web site.
