Something to think about
Many people find writing down their small step and carrying it with them helps them remember, and move toward, their goal. For example:
“Just for the next hour, I won’t gamble.”
Write down your small step and carry it with you. Look at it and say it out loud when you need to. The more you read or say your step, the better.
When the hour is up, recognize your success. Think about what you did to make the success possible. Write those actions down too. Tracking successes, and how they were accomplished, can help you stay motivated and plan for future successes.
